Live Class Computer Programming for your Students {CodeWizardsHQ}
When I was in high school in the 80s I can remember taking a computer class and I loved it. Back then we just made our name move across the computer screen and other things like that. Computers were just becoming popular, but most people still didn't have them in their homes. Technology is so prominent in society today that learning to code is a great thing for kids to learn even if that is not their chosen career Field knowing a little how it works can be helpful. Amber just took an online coding class from CodeWizardsHQ.

CodeWizardsHQ is an online coding class for kids. This program is completely online and can be used from any computer with a microphone and speakers making this a great choice for a homeschool computer curriculum. A headset with a microphone is a better option but not required. You will need an internet connection and a popular web browser.

The classes are held live for one hour every week. There will be 6-8 students in each class and all the teachers are experienced coders. Students will get live immediate feedback and get their questions answered immediately. Each session last for 3 months and is recommended for students ages 10-18. Students will have access to the coding platform 24 hours a day 7 days a week so they can practice at their convience.

Amber is 17 and she wanted to take the one hour class we were offered. She has done a little coding in the past, so this wasn't all new to her but she still enjoyed it. The class is given through GoTo Meeting. If you aren't familiar with the way this works it is very simple. You log into your class the instructor and all the students are logged in at the same time. On the right side of the screen you will have a chat box and this is where you can turn your microphone on or off. You can view the instructor's computer while they explain what is going on and they can go through their slide show to teach the class and all the students can see it.

We logged into our class and some people chose to use the microphone and others decided they would rather just use the chat box for discussions. Amber's instructor was Lynn. She explained a little bit about coding and then got the kids started on basic coding right away. Within our one hour class the students created a webpage with comic frames that are live right now and you can see what Amber created in the one hour class.

This is a screen shot of Amber's back end. This is where she completed her coding. She could access different characters, backgrounds, and her uploaded photos. It has a very user friendly setup. Amber thought it was very easy to navigate and find what she was looking for.

I sat and watched the class with Amber and we love how it is set up. We thought it was even better than having a real teacher. Lynn could see exactly what Amber was working on and if she had completed each step properly. She could see each of the student's work. We could hear her giving feedback to the other students which could be great because you may run into the same problems or have the same questions as everyone else.

These classes are for anyone that would love to learn coding no matter where you live or what school you attend. I think it would be fun to do as a family a homeschool group or COOP. You could set up your class time so that everyone could  attend together no matter if you are all at home or meeting together. There are special pricing options for homescool students.

Once you have completed the training you will be award a certification of completion that can be added to your resume or transcript. After completion the student will be able to apply for one of their internships.
