Abby Ludvigson Review #hsreviews #purity #growingup #rightchoices

Abby Ludvigson Sex by Design
There are so many things I have taught my kids that I wish I had known when I was a teen. Things not only about becoming an adult but how to live it to the fullest and remain pure until they get married. Abby Ludvigson is a young woman that wants to help teens know the purpose and practice of purity in her course Sex by Design
Abby Ludvigson Sex by Design
This curriculum is designed for teen girls and boys. This course comes with a series of films, a Parent Guidebook, and a Teen Guidebook. It includes seven segments and teaches God's plan for our sex lives. This is not a sex education program, but it teaches sexual purity. The course is taught by Abby Ludvigson and she presents the information on the films. She is a single woman in her 30s that has decided to save her sex life for her future husband and knows what she is talking about when she encourages teens to remain virgins.
  1. Plan Ahead: Living Pure in a Sex-Saturated Culture
  2. Counting the Cost: Every Decision Has a Price Tag
  3. Dating: Doing Relationships God's Way
  4. Sex: God's Purpose and Plan
  5. Modesty: God Cares What I Wear
  6. Pornography: Its Deception and Steps to Get Out or Stay Out
  7. Secondary Virginity: Running Back to God
The Teen Guidebook is a 112-page softcover book has two sections. The first part of the book has a section for each video segment and the second half of the book has a bible study to go along with each video segment. Each chapter starts with a note from Abby, an outline of the film segment, scripture verses, some truth statements, a follow-up section to discuss the topic, and a section to personalize and apply it to their own lives.
The Parent Guidebook is a 165-page softcover book that is set up just like the Student Guidebook except it contains more. Not only does it have the film outline it also contains the full film script. The follow-up section also contains notes on how these questions should be answered with your teens. Some have answers, but others just offer a note of encouragement to help the parent know how to discuss the questions with their teens.

I have been going through this course with my 12, 15, & 16-year-old daughters. We watched the video segment together and then discussed what we watched and went through the study guide together. I have already discussed these topics with my girls, but Abby has a way of speaking to teens. I love that she has remained pure and can tell these kids what it is really like to stay that way into their adult lives when most of us can't share that side of the story with our teens. She shares statistics, facts, and bible scriptures to make her point to persuade young people to remain a virgin despite what our culture teaches us. There are books suggested for further reading and the teens are encouraged to make lists about and for their future spouse, to build their own convictions and to discuss these topics with their parents to help hold them accountable.
My girls and I have really enjoyed going through this course together. It has opened up some things we could discuss that I hadn't thought about talking about with them, and we have had a few laughs. This is a great course to use with your teens even if you have talked to them about sexual purity and God's plan for our lives in this area there is information to learn from it. If you haven't had these discussions with your teens this is a great way to start. Abby does an excellent job talking in front of the groups and she doesn't discuss anything inappropriate.

Kid Niche Review #hsreviews #tweensbiblestudy #prayer #biblecurriculum

Kid Niche Christian Books
The Bible has always been in my kids' lives. They hear it read at church, Sunday school, family devotions, and their own private devotions. We recently received a Bible study guide from Kid Niche Christian Books called Weave Your Word in Me -- Part 1.
*******

Weave Your Word in Me --Part 1 is a bible study guide for tweens in grades 4-6 that uses the Lord's Prayer in each lesson. There are 36 lessons in Part 1 and it is divided into two sections; God The Father and God The Son. Part 2 is also divided into two sections; What God Wants and God The Holy Spirit. Part 1 & 2 can be purchased together or separately, we have been using only Part 1.

This Bible study wants young people to understand who God is and how to talk to Him. It starts with a rhythmical prayer called My Whole Self Before You modeled after the Lord's Prayer. It can be used with King James, New King James, New International, English Standard Version, New American Standard Bible, or the New American Bible Revised Edition Bible translations.

The study is on 72 pages of loose leaf paper punched and ready to add to a 3-ring binder. When it arrived in the mail it had been very carefully wrapped in paper and cardboard. Each sheet has a line from the My Whole Self Before You in a colored box on the left side of the page. All the lessons include bible verses to look up with fill-in-the-blank questions and prayer boxes to fill in. There are also definitions boxes, colorful pictures, coloring pages, plays, true & false questions, and matching activities. There is also an answer key that includes all the answers even if the wording is different because of the different translations used.

Alaina is still technically a tween at age 12, so that would put her on the older side for using this Bible study. We like using the New American Standard Bible and was pleasantly surprised when that was one of the translations recommended for this study. Alaina really liked how the pages are set up and each lesson didn't take that long for her to complete. We thought having the line from My Whole Self Before You on the left side of each page was a good idea but wondered why the corresponding line from the Lord's Prayer was also not included. I think this is actually a little too easy for her and she would have really liked it a few years ago. But I do teach a lot of Sunday School classes and I know that there are some kids in there that this would be perfect for and I may choose to order this for them to use next time I teach.

Weave Your Word in Me was written by Susan Case Bonner. She has been involved in helping children of all ages know God through His word. Kid Niche Christian Books produces resources that help kids interact with God in life-changing ways. They offer bible guides for all ages of children and a devotional for families.

The Pencil Grip Review & Giveaway #hsreviews #pencilgrip #safetyscissors #preschoolsupplies

The Pencil Grip, Inc.
I love to watch little kids use scissors. It is always so cute the way they open their mouth when they open the scissors. We have a new pair of The Ultra Safe Safety Scissors and The 3 Step Pencil Grip Training Kit from The Pencil Grip, Inc
The Ultra Safe Safety Scissors work just like any pair of scissors and are just as easy to use. The only difference is the blade has a fixed safety shield that remains in place over the blades even while the scissors are being used. The blade on the finger side of the scissors are connected to the safety shield. The blade connected to the thumb side moves up and down inside the safety shield. The piece of paper slides in between the fixed blade and the safety shield. There is a training lever that will automatically open the scissors after they have been squeezed closed. It can also be closed so that the scissors work like normal. These scissors are recommended for children ages 3 and up and would be great for kids preschool supplies.
The 3 Step Pencil Grip Training Kit
The 3 Step Pencil Grip Training Kit comes with 3 different grips that can be used on regular pencils and pens. They make holding them correctly easy and comfortable for children and adults. Both left-handed and right-handed people can use the grips correctly.
  • Step 1 is called the Crossover Grip. It is shaped like a "super hero cape" over the fingers. It is for training and provides structure and reinforcement for proper finger positioning.
  • Step 2 is the Pinch Grip. This one has partial "wings" to allow transitioning to freedom but still has structure. By removing the "super hero wings" it allows the user to see their fingers to visually see how to hold the pencil or pen.
  • Step 3 is the original Pencil Grip. It is refered to as the Graduation because it is the last one and can be used as long as the user needs to. This step provides a lifetime of comfort and control.
The Ultra Safe Safety Scissors
Obviously, my kids are a little old for safety scissors, so we used them with my friend's little girl. She just turned 3 so she hasn't had much experience using scissors. Of course, she tried to use two hands at first but once we got them placed in her hand correctly it didn't take her long to figure out how they should work. We did have to help her get the paper in between the blade and the safety shield, but she could cut it.
My kids always liked to cut and make crafts. Once they were a little older I would let them use regular scissors because regular safety scissors were not very sharp and my kids would get frustrated when they used them. We didn't have that problem with these scissors they're sharp, but there is no way a child could cut themselves with them.
We tried the pencil grip with her also, but I don't think she is quite ready to hold a pencil correctly. She would rather play with them than use them. We will keep trying to get her to use them so she can develop a good grasp when she writes.
