I am always on the lookout for good books. Usually when we find an author we like we look for other books they have written. We just finished reading The League And The Lantern by Brian Wells.
The League And The Lantern is a new adventure book for middle school aged children. It takes three junior high kids on a mystery adventure lasting 48 hours in the streets of Chicago. After escaping from a school field trip that goes wrong Jake, Lucy, and TJ have to solve a mystery that dates back to the Civil War. They learn they cannot trust anyone and must rely on each other.
I decided to read this book out loud to my family. The girls all liked it, especially Alaina. She thought so many things were funny. This is a great read for older elementary and junior high aged kids. I think boys would especially like it.
The League and the Lantern was written by Brian Wells. He was having trouble finding engaging entertainment option for his kids. Knowing that other families had the same problem he decided to create a fast-paced adventure with humor that included family, friendship, and compassion. Brian decided to take 140 top vocabulary words that middle school children need to succeed and used them in the story. He also has the characters learn lessons in mercy, compassion and charity through events that kids deal with on a daily basis and in not so ordinary events.
When a hardcover copy of The League and the Lantern is purchased from LeagueandLantern.com another free copy will be donated to a child who would not be able to purchase one.
