A new Homeschool Review Crew Year will be starting soon with several returning members and quit a few new ones. I am planning on visiting all the new blogs and most of the returning members while we are on break from school. I though you might want to read some of those blogs also. Here are just a few of the 219 members of the 2017 year.

This post and giveaway are sponsored by Oodles World and the FrontGate Christian Blogger Network. The opinions about how it will serve our home well are my own.
All of my kids are getting big and although we still have some cartoons in our house we don't have any little kid videos. Since my girls baby sit a two year old two days a week I wanted to review Treasure Toons Animated Lyric Scripture Songs DVD recommended for children ages 1-6.
Treasure Toons uses scripture in songs and uses bright colorful video to capture the attention of young children. This DVD contains six songs with the words then the sing-a-long version of each, there is also The Making of Treasure Toons and last 55 minutes.
- Wonderfully Made ~ Kids from around the world sing about being Wonderfully Made. (Psalms 139: 2, 3, 13-16)
- When I Awake ~ All creation knows God is with us is shown through crabs, whales, and flying fish. (Psalm 139:7, 12, 17 & 18)
- Honeycomb~ This song teaches us our words should be sweet as honey using bears and bees to illustrate the song. (Proverbs 16:21-24)
- Arise and Shine ~ Airplanes flying through the sky indicates we should look up and see that God's light is with us day and night. (Isaiah 60:1 & 19)
- The Fool ~ Birds help a fellow fowl make friends while learning the wisdom of words seasoned with love. (Proverbs 29:11, 20, 22 & 23)
- Remember His Wonders ~The forest friends remember the wonderful things God had done for us. (Psalms 105:1-5)
We watched this video with the two year-old girl we baby-sit. She loved it, she sat still and watched the characters and enjoyed the music. This would make a great addition to any home with young children. The songs get in your head and make learning those selected scriptures easy to recall later. I can still remember some scriptures because I had learned a song about them when I was young.

The Five Minute Friday prompt this week is Joy. Although I am a day late I still wanted to write about some little things that bring me Joy.
My husband is always on call for work and is gone any where from 24-36 hours at a time. With his schedule, homeschool, and kids activities it is hard to get out much for a date night. I learned years ago to find the joy in the things we do in our day-to-day lives together.
One of those things is reading the paper together every day he is home. If he gets home in the middle of the night and wants to sleep in I wait until later in the day to read it with him. We like to discuss what all is in there and although our local paper isn't very big it gives us a little chunk of our day together.
We also have a latte most afternoons when he is home. We have our own espresso machine and it is a lot cheaper to make them at home than buy them somewhere. If it is nice we go outside to sit and enjoy a few minutes alone.
Mike is not allowed to use his phone on the train any more unless they are stopped. If he is at the other end and gets called to come home in the middle of the night he always texts me a good morning message. I have come to enjoy waking up to a good morning greeting text every day when he is gone.
I could go on and on. It seems like the more I think about the little things that Mike does for me the more I can find and appreciate. It is those day-to-day things that makes our marriage more fulfilling.

A few weeks ago the girls and I were organizing our CDs. We pulled them all out to make sure the correct CD was in the correct case and we put them in alphabet order again. We were separating them and my girls were getting a kick out of some they had not listened to in a long time and some they didn't even realize we owned. One of my girls found an old Amy Grant CD and they couldn't get over how young she looked. The very next day I was offered Amy Grant Tennessee Christmas to review.
This CD contains thirteen songs to celebrate Christmas including some hymns and one featuring Vince Gill. Amy first recorded Tennessee Christmas in 1983 when she was 22. On that record jacket was a picture of her two grandmothers. She is still singing this song and now she includes a picture of her with her grandchild.
- Tennessee Christmas
- To Be Together
- Christmas For You And Me
- Melancholy Christmas
- White Christmas
- Joy To The World
- I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm
- Baby, It's Cold Outside (featuring Vince Gill)
- Christmas Don't Be Late
- Still Can't Sleep
- Another Merry Christmas
- O Come, All Ye Faithful
Amy wishes that you feel nostalgic, warm, hopeful, loved, and not alone when you listen to this album. She is also asking her fans to upload any videos that you may have of surprising your loved ones for the holidays to social media and use the hashtag #TNChristmasSurprise. Amy will share a video compilation of these holiday surprises to share on her social media.
I leave my Christmas music out all year and listen to it often. This new Amy Grant Tennessee Christmas will get plenty of use in the next month but also throughout the year. I have a copy of Amy Grant Tennessee Christmas to giveaway.

This week the Five Minute Friday writing prompt is Crave.
Usually when I hear the word crave I think about different kinds of foods and drinks. I do have things I crave, but I thought I would take a different prospective this time.
I have been craving wood......as in doors and trim. We purchased our home about 12 years ago. It is an older home built around 1925. It had been repossessed by the VA and needed a lot of work. The good thing was the VA had someone come in and clean up everything that was left here. We have done a lot of work to our home and we are far from done. It originally had paneling and a drop down ceiling and I wanted that gone before we moved in.
We just recently started replacing some doors. Our front door was too small and we had to remove the frame to get some of our furniture inside, so we put in a 36" door. I stained that along with a door to our family room and our downstairs bathroom this past week.
Now I am craving wood trim for these three doors. I was planning on starting on the doors in the dining room but I want to see these doors finished, so the new plan is to get the trim stained and up before starting on the next room.
I am so excited and I can't wait until they are finished.
Kate Motaung hosts the Five Minute Friday Writing Prompt. I'm going to read what other people Crave and you can too.

Bible journaling has become very popular lately and some of the pictures I've seen floating around the internet are very pretty. I like to take notes in my bible, but I haven't had the nerve to start coloring in it yet. I do like to write out bible verses for a couple of reasons. If I write down a verse I can remember it easier. If I write the same verse or verses down several days in a row then I memorize it without really trying. I also like to pick out words that go together in certain bible passages and color them the same color. I recently received the Bible Journaling Kit from Ellie Clair, a division of Worthy Publishing Group and they are wonderful for writing down my bible passages and highlighting certain words that stand out to me that day.
The Bible Journaling Kit from Ellie Claire is very cute and comes with:
- Pouch with adjustable strap to hold journaling supplies
- 8 colored pencil twists
- 1 journaling pen
- 1 ruled page protector mat with tracing lines
- 4 sheets of word stickers
- 4 sheets of alphabet stickers
- 24 tab stickers
This Bible Journaling Kit is very nice. I really like the beautiful pouch to hold the journaling supplies. The sticker sheets, pen, and all the pencils fit perfectly inside. It lays flat and slides right in the pocket of my bible case. The pen has a very fine point making note taking in a bible so easy. The pencils are very colorful, but also light so they do not bleed through the paper. The sticker sheets make journaling fun and the ruled page protector mat helps me keep my writing straight in my bible.
If you are still Christmas shopping this would make a great gift for anyone who likes to take notes in their bible, journal, keep a prayer list, or just to practice their penmanship.
Where to Buy
I have two ways you can enter to win your own Ellie Claire Bible Journaling Kit in you live in the U.S. I have one to giveaway and you can enter through the Rafflecopter below. Worthy Publishing Group is also giving away five of these wonderful kits. You can enter that one by visiting Worthy Publishing. They also have free coloring pages you can download.

Finally!! We have found the best pencil sharpener we have ever used. The Classroom Friendly Pencil Sharpener is by far the best pencil sharpener. We have an electric sharpener, and several different hand held ones. We actually just started buying mechanical pencils because we didn't like sharpening our pencils for school any more. We were eagerly waiting for our new pencil sharpener and hoping that it worked at good as I had heard.
The Classroom Friendly Sharpeners come in seven different colors and I was glad we got the purple one. This pencil sharpener works a little different than any I have ever used. The front cover plate extends out and grips the pencil. While you turn the handle to sharpen the pencil this plate pulls the pencil into the sharpener itself. When the pencil is very sharp it will become easier to turn the handle. The black levers on the top are used to grip and release the pencil. There is a little drawer under the blade that catches the shavings and it easily removed for disposal.
We were all surprised at how sharp we could get our pencils and the girls love them that sharp when they are drawing. Alaina liked using this pencil sharpener so much that she sharpened all of our pencils. She also takes it throughout the house when she is drawing or coloring with colored pencils.
We did have a pencil lead break off inside our blade housing and we could easily clear that by removing the handle.
This is by far the best pencil sharpener plus it is the easiest to use and the most quiet. I'm so glad we found Classroom Friendly Supplies.
Disclaimer: I received a Classroom Friendly Pencil Sharpener free of charge in order to write my review. No other compensation was received and all opinions are my own.
