Cakes & Cookies #yum #cakedecorating

Now that the year is almost over I thought I would share a few cake and cookie pictures from December.
I'll start with some Christmas sugar cookies. I haven't added up how many of these I did this year, but it was a lot. I actually made 40 boxes very similar to these. That's a lot of cookies!

Here is a fun cake that I made for the USPS. It was for an Post Office employee who is retiring. They absolutely loved it.
Of course there are birthdays that go on in December. This cake was made for two cousins who were together for the Christmas holiday, but they wanted to celebrate their birthdays together. Big Frozen and Bronco fans at their house.

What 16 year old boy wouldn't want a Star Wars cake? They picked the cake up and had their own figures to put on the top, so I didn't get a picture myself with them on the top.

I did get a picture that was shared on Facebook, it just isn't very good.

This 7 year old boy loves the Ninja Turtles!!

Buck Denver What's In The Bible DVD Review @WhatsInTheBible @FamilyChristian

We just recently watched our first Buck Denver DVD. It was Buck Denver Saves Christmas and now we have been watching Buck Denver What's In The Bible? Volume 10 Jesus Is The Good News. We love the Veggie Tales and Buck Denver is from the same creator, Phil Vischer.

Jesus Is The Good News! contains 2 episodes about 25 minutes each.
  • God's Perfect Timing ~ Buck Denver and his friends learn about the 400 years between the Old Testament & the New Testament. They realize that Jesus arrives at the perfect time.
  • The Messiah Has Come ~ In this episode we learn about the life and ministry of Jesus. We see why he had to die and rise again.
I watched the DVD a couple of times with all three of my girls. Alaina really liked it and she has watched it several times. We all like the humor & I was surprised at how in depth the episodes are. I was thinking they would be more geared toward younger children, but there was a lot of historical information that children and adults can learn something. We learned of the time between the Old and New Testament, what Gospel means, about Jesus being tempted for 40 days, and so much more.

Included with our DVD is a Family Discussion Guide that parents can use to discuss what was covered in the movie. There also a coloring page of the DVD cover.

Phil Vischer launched Veggie Tales 20 years ago to bring Biblical values to kids in a fun way. It was such a huge success that he decided to bring the entire Bible to life for families. He created the Buck Denver series using 13 DVDs to cover the entire Bible.

This series would make a wonderful addition to any household & they are on sale at Family Christian Stores for $9.97 until December 24, 2014.

I have a $10 Appreciation Certificate to Family Christian Stores to giveaway. I will choose a winner December 26, 2015. Just enter the Rafflecopter below.

Fill Your Stocking Gifts #ladiesgift #fungifts

Every year I attend a couple of ladies Christmas parties. Sometimes we exchange gifts at the parties and other times we just enjoy each others fellowship. This year at the ladies Christmas party at church everyone was asked to "Fill their Stockings" with gifts. My girls always attend this party and we had a lot of fun trying to decide what to include in our stockings.

These are the socks that I chose. Actually Amber found a two pack of socks and the other pair was zebra striped, so I took the second pair.

I chose to put a coffee mug with homemade hot chocolate, Mexican hot chocolate, spiced chai, and homemade marshmallows.

Here are Amber's zebra socks.

She chose her favorite things to put in her stockings. She was secretly hoping she would get her present. She chose an ice cream dish, 2 small ice creams, hot fudge, and a spoon.
Delaney chose the cutest snowman socks. She wanted to include something that would make them really stand out.
She put a coke in one and a snowman hand soap in the other.
Alaina and the other younger girls chose to exchange their socks with each other instead of with the adults and big girls. She already had her socks wrapped up and didn't want to open them for a picture. She picked out a hello kitty toy and a plastic cup with a straw for her other one.

Everyone had so much fun choosing a pair of socks and watching what everyone had in theirs. The girls and I had a lot of fun brainstorming our ideas and actually we came up with a lot.

What creative ways have you used to exchange gifts?

Wisdomantics Game Review and Giveaway #wisdomantics

We love to play games together as a family or with friends & relatives. We are always on the look out for new games & I especially like the ones that help us learn or use our knowledge. We have been playing a new game called Wisdomantics from Kingdom Games Enterprises
Wisdomantics is an Interactive DVD Board Game recommended for 2-4 players ages 12 and up. I have been playing it with my three girls ages 9, 12 & 13. We have all been enjoying answering questions from Solomon's Wisdom in this game. My 9 year old had a little trouble with some of the questions, so we would sometimes give her a few hints.
The questions are actually bible verses from the book of Proverbs with fill in the blank answers. The questions are fill in the blank, but they are multiple choice. When the questions are answered correctly we see King Solomon in his throne and he announces, "Hallelujah!" If you miss the question you will have 2 more tries to answer it correctly, if you still miss the question it is the next persons turn. The first person to build King Solomon's Temple is the winner of the game. Each time you answer a question correctly you pick up an Advancement Card. This card tells you how many places to move and sometimes they allow you to do other things, such as report to the Detention Chambers, save to avoid the Detention Chambers, save to skip another player, and more.

Wisdomantics uses the New King James Version for all the Proverbs. Scripture is the only thing used in the questions making it great for any one no matter what church you attend or if you just want to gain more wisdom.

About the game:
For 2-4 players, ages 12+

Wisdomantics-NKJV utilizes the proverbs of Solomon and blends chance, knowledge and strategy to create a fun experience while you learn! The game’s intent is to bring individuals together to learn how to cope with numerous situations in a fun and relaxed environment. Inside the box you’ll find 2 interactive DVDs with 400 questions, score cards, blessing cards, and more!
