G is for Granola

G is for Granola

My family really likes granola. I have made several different kinds over the years & this recipe is a favorite with my family. I usually don't like granola bars from the store because I think they are too sweet, but I tried the Pumpkin-N-Spice granola bars from Nature's Path & I love them. They don't actually have pumpkin in them it has pumkin seeds, but this got me to thinking about making pumpkin granola. I tried a recipe (with pumkin) that I found online this weekend, but I wasn't happy with it. I guess I'll keep tweaking mine, and looking online for a good one.

8 cups oats
1/2 cup plus 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
1/2 cup plus 1 Tablespoon Honey
2 Tablespoons vanilla

Mix together and bake at 325° for 20 minutes, stirring after 10 minutes.

Stir in:
1/4 Cup chopped Almonds
1/4 Cup chopped Walnuts
1/4 Cup chopped Pecans

Bake 10 minutes.

Let cool and then stir in:
1/4 Cup craisins
1/4 Cup raisins

Do you make granola? Do you have a favorite? or Do you have a recipe with pumkin you would like to share?

Does your granola recipe make granola that's suitable for snacking on while hiking or just for sprinkling over yogurt? My husband and son keep hoping I'll find a homemade granola recipe that makes clumps that would be easier for them to eat as a snack.

No, it doesn't clump. I wish it did. I think it would have to be more sticky. I like to eat it dry, so I usually drink it out of the bowl.

I wish I had a decent place tobuy bulk foods so that I could make this granola. My kis love it as well!
