Vocab Videos

An extensive vocabulary is a wonderful thing to have, but knowing how to properly use the vocabulary we already have is even greater.

Vocab Videos combines videos and study resources to help students experience, learn, and master vocabulary. The short videos illustrate the meaning of 500 SAT and high school level vocabulary words. The digital study tools reinforce and test the students on what they have seen in the videos. You have access to quizzes with SAT style questions, a flashcard maker, worksheets, glossary, crossword puzzles, and teacher tracking tools.

A good vocabulary is essential to reading comprehension, making students better readers, writers, and speakers. The 500 words that will be learned were selected on SAT research, and learning them can improve student scores up to 150 points.

I was planning on using this program with Amber & Delaney. They both have a large vocabulary & read above their grade level, so I thought we would enjoy this program. I really like the way it is set up and can see how it could be beneficial. Having the vocabulary word shown & read to you at the beginning of the video & then used in correct context at the end of the scene aids in remembering the word. We watched the first couple of videos and we decided as a family we would not continue with the program. We did not like the way the guy in the first set of videos was checking out his coworker and taking the Lord's name in vain. We do not allow foul language in our home in any form.

Vocab Videos is a high school program and educators get the first month free. The one-year subscription for up to 20 students can be purchased for $74.99.
