Math Facts Now

Photobucket
We use a lot of speed drills in our homeschool, so we were really excited about this review. It is a downloaded speed drill program that is worked directly on the computer. Each child has their own user name and you create the lessons. The program is math facts only, there are no games or graphics that can sometimes be a distraction to the child. Math Facts Now can be used with all of your children for one price of $15.95.

I used this program with all three of my girls ages 6, 8, & 9. We all loved it! I will definitely suggest this program to my friends whether their children are taught at home or school. Some times my 8 & 9 year old like to do several speed drills a day.  While using Math Facts Now they don't have to wait for me to get them another drill printed or to set the timer if I am working with their younger sister on her school work. I have never had my kids do speed drills in the first grade, but Alaina really likes using Math Facts Now and usually asks if she can do another one. Although we have our own copy machine this will save a lot of money on paper and toner over time. The girls also loved the reward that was given after completing the worksheet, I usually gave them time to read something of their choice.

First you set up each child's user name and then you assign the worksheets. When setting up the worksheets  you first chose the type of problems you would like to drill: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, or Division. After choosing the kind of problems you can select what number facts to work on. For example if you want your child to work on the multiplication facts you will chose Multiplication first and depending on their level you may chose each set of facts separately, combine a few or select all the facts. Your selections for each worksheet are saved and can be completed over and over again by the student with different facts showing up each time.

As the parent you chose the amount of time the student has to answer each problem, how many times they need to re-enter a missed problem, and how many problems they need to get correct to finish the lesson. You may also chose to give your child a reward for finishing their worksheet. If you answer your math fact correctly it will go onto the next question, if you miss the problem you will have to type out the whole problem how many ever times that was chosen when setting up the worksheet. If the problem was answered correctly but to slowly it will tell the child that they had the correct answer, but that they were to slow and they will have to type out the problem the same amount of times as if they had missed it. Once the lesson is completed you can view and print the child's results. It will show how long it took to complete the lesson, total incorrect, total answered to slow and the average amount of time taken on each problem.

You may also view or print each child's total progress. This report shows all the lessons taken, how much time was spent completing the lesson, number of problems completed, the percentage of right and wrong answers, and the percentage of time spent on each problem.

Math Facts Now may be purchased and downloaded here for $15.95. Or if you would like to order a CD Rom it is also $15.95 plus $3.95 shipping and handling. You may also check out the free trial here. This company is very easy to work with, when we first received this product we had to assign at least 50 problems per worksheet. Some of the other members of the TOS Crew thought this was to many for their children and they have now changed the minimum number of problems to 5.

System Requirements: Runs on Windows 2000, ME, XP, Vista and Windows 7. 4.5 Mb of free hard drive space required.
You may read other Crew member reviews here.

As a member of the TOS Crew I received Math Facts Now free to use in our homeschool in exchange for my honest review of their product.
