Usually I take my Christmas tree and decorations down the day after Christmas this year I decided to leave it up until after the first of the year. We are waiting for my oldest daughter Morgan to get here today from CO, she went to CA for Christmas & we are having company over the New Year weekend also.

Since we are still on a holiday from school and my husband is home from work today I went out to run some errands and get groceries by myself. When I got home my daughters had made cookies. They did a good job mixing them, but they couldn't figure out why the first batch in the oven was taking so long. The oven wasn't on, they had preheated it because it felt warm. I am assuming that when they set the timer they accidentally hit the cancel button and turned the oven off. We are now enjoying some wonderful cookies.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies
1/2 Cup butter
1 Cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 Cup flour
1/3 Cup of cocoa
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup of milk
2 cups of chocolate chips

~ Cream butter and sugar, add egg and vanilla a mix til fluffy.

~ Mix dry ingredients in a separate bowl and add alternately with the milk to the creamed mixture.

~ Add chocolate chips

~ Bake 10 minutes at 375°

You have sweet girls! I'm glad you kept the decorations up. I always leave mine up until New Year's day or so. It's hard for me to let go of Christmas!!

It's adorable that the girls decided to bake. And how cute that they turned the oven off by accident. =)

We keep our tree up until "Little Christmas". It's so much more fun putting it up!

I hope you have a wonderful time with your company.

That was nice of them. I did that same thing at my parents house the other day. I had brought scalloped potatoes prepared, but not cooked and the oven was on. Somehow I turned it off when I set the timer. Thankfully we realized after only 20 or so minutes so dinner wasn't postponed too badly.
