One thing I love about July is my blackberry vines. They grow like weeds and the berries are huge. The kids and I watch and wait for them to turn into their beautiful black color that leave purple stains on little girls hands. Sometimes we can't wait and we pick a few to eat and they are sour.

Travel Kits: A Simple Way to Bless Others

I received Travel Kits just a couple of days before we left on vacation. I didn't have time to read through the 93 page e-book before we left, but I was able to glance through it and get some good ideas. That's Ok because we are on the go again next week and I will have a travel kit for this trip.
Travel Kits: A Simple Way to Bless Others is an e-book from The Old Schoolhouse Magazine Store. For just $12.45 you get a wealth of information on making travel kits for your own trips or to give away. This e-book is written to parents who want to bless their children or other families with a travel kit.
I think it would be fun to let my children make a kit for some of their friends before their next trip. Maybe give them a budget so they could work on managing money.
Normally the night before we leave for a road trip the kids get a backpack and fill it with stuff they think they will play with or use while in the car, most of the items they bring never get taken out of the backpack. With this e-book you'll discover ways to make the backpack, box or bag more enjoyable. There are ideas of what to include in your kit, how to wrap it & creative ways to distribute the gifts & games to play while in the car.
Traveling through several states? This e-book has a list of travel websites for every state.
Do you need recipes for great snacks? There are a few of those.
Do you need a book to read in the car? There is a list of 61 good books you could take along.
Want to know what other families do when they travel? There is even a section on Tips From Other Travelers.
What a blessing it would be to give a travel kit away!

Travel the World!—June 2010 Issue Schoolhouse Planner/Modules

Travel the World! is the June 2010 issue e-book designed as an add on to The 2009 Schoolhouse Planner. You can purchase the module by itself for $7.95 or in different sized bundles with other Planner Modules from The Old Schoolhouse Magazine Store. You do not have to purchase the planner to use the modules. The e-book is downloaded onto your computer and is available as soon as check out is completed.
This unit describes geography and how it fits in God's plan very well. It is designed for 2-8 grade, but it also includes a high school section that divides geography into different branches. I used this e-book mainly for my 2 daughters that are in the 4th & 5th grade, but my 5 year old had fun singing the song and playing the games. There are enough maps and worksheets included that the only item we used along with this study was our globe. It's nice to know that the web links have all been carefully planned out and there are no unwanted surprises in a search for online activities.
My girls would say that answering the questions on the daily geography challenge & trying to beat each others high scores on the latitude and longitude game were their favorite parts of this e-book, but I really like the copy work. The pages include bible verses and facts that go along with the studied material in both manuscript and cursive. Travel The World! also includes recipes, puzzles, maps and coloring pages.
Whether your child has never been taught about geography or they just need to brush up on their vocabulary this is a wonderful resource to have.
