I just finished using When I Grow Up, I Want to Be a Firefighter e-book from The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine with my daughters ages 7 & 9 and they loved it. The e-book is recommended for ages 4-10. You will need to do some oral reading with the younger children but my 9 year old devoured it.

The book not only talked about firefighting but included information on building codes and the use of appropriate material for house building in different weather conditions to lessen the chances of house fires. Even though my girls are not really interested in firefighting they were excited to learn about it. They were very impressed with the cost of the equipment, and how much the firefighters get paid. The book includes a list of requirements to be a firefighter, we also researched some of our local requirements as well.

As a parent I loved the fact that it contained copy work in both print and cursive, coloring pages, and puzzles. This book in the Wanna Be Series is only $8.95 and can be purchased at http://www.theoldschoolhousestore.com/

We got to review the same book :) I think I'll bring it back out for Fire Safety week in October.

And look at you...your first blog award about a month after your first post.

I also reviewed this for one of my first reviews for TOS. Mine is way long! lol Here is the link to mine if you want to check it out.

I guess the writing part isn't too long, but it has a lot of pics.

Good first post and first review. My first review was about a year after my first blog post and it was a Wee-book about the Renaissance. I was so glad to have blogged a whole year before I did a review for the crew. I can't imagine all the trepidation I felt being on the crew and being a brand new blogger as well. You handled it very well and did a great job.
